About Monex

For over 50 years*, Monex companies and brand have been America’s trusted name in gold and other precious metals. With customer transactions now totaling over $70 billion, Monex Deposit Company, established in 1987, is today America’s premier precious metals dealer because of our dedication to customer service and satisfaction.
About Monex
Who owns Monex?
Monex was recently acquired by Gold.com, Inc. (NYSE: GOLD), formerly A-Mark Precious Metals. The acquisition closed in January 2026, and Monex now operates as an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company. Gold.com's own announcement of the deal cited Monex's established brand and loyal customer base as reasons for the acquisition.
How long has Monex been in business?
Monex’s history traces back to 1967 and the opening of Louis Carabini's original coin shop. Through decades of operation, Monex Deposit Company and its affiliated precious metals companies have facilitated more than $70 billion billion in customer transactions.
Buying & Selling Process
Can I cancel a Monex order after it is placed?
For online orders:
When you buy from Monex, once it has issued an order confirmation number, you have a binding contract; the transaction price and applicable fees are locked in and market price risk is transferred to you. Credit card orders may only be canceled within 24 hours of placing the order, and will be subject to you paying the applicable default/cancel fee. You acknowledge that all online purchases are non-refundable. However, at your request, Monex may, without obligation, provide you with an opportunity to exchange a product for an identical product.
For phone orders:
All confirmed purchases are final and legally binding once the verbal confirmation on the recorded line has been made. Exchanges for the same item and quantity may be considered within seven days of receipt, at Monex's discretion. Shipping charges are non-refundable, and any market loss may be deducted from the refund or exchange value.
How long does Monex take to process a check payment?
Payment must be initiated no later than the day of purchase. Although Bank Wires are considered “good funds,” checks require a hold period, after which the order will be processed, packaged and delivered. For typical checks under $100,000, the hold funds period is 5 banking days after the check is deposited and 7 to10 banking days for other checks.
How should I ship gold and silver to Monex when selling?
When shipping your metal from home to Monex, we highly recommend using the US Postal Service (USPS), Registered and Insured Mail. Make absolutely sure that your coins, bars or bags are packaged securely so that the quality and value of the items are not diminished in transit.
Customer Support
How do I resolve a concern or file a complaint with Monex?
Your Account Representative is your first point of contact and is responsible for resolving any concern about your account. If your Account Representative cannot resolve the issue to your satisfaction, the matter is escalated to a Sales Director. Every customer complaint, including those resolved by your Account Representative, is reported to the Monex Compliance Department, which records each complaint and keeps a file of all written and verbal complaints. You can also contact Compliance directly at 800-949-4653. Complaints sent straight to Compliance are investigated and reviewed with the Account Representative and Sales Director involved.
Who do I contact about a problem with my Monex shipment?
Call your Monex account representative about any problem with your shipment, including delivery questions, tracking issues or other transaction concerns. Your Account Representative can also talk through the metals Monex offers and current pricing. You can reach Monex at 800-444-8317.
Why Monex
What makes Monex different from other precious metals dealers?
Monex companies have been one of America's trusted names in precious metals for more than 50 years, with over $70 billion in customer transactions and a two-way market that lets investors buy and sell with clarity. Every client works with a dedicated account representative rather than a call center, building relationships that often span years rather than a single transaction. That track record was recognized independently in 2026, when Newsweek named Monex to its America's Best Online Platforms list. See the full list of Monex recognition.
Why do high-net-worth investors choose Monex for bullion and coins?
High-net-worth investors choose Monex for the combination of depth, trust, and access that comes with over 50 years in the precious metals industry. Monex account representatives are among the most knowledgeable and experienced in the business, and the relationships they build with customers are a hallmark of how Monex operates.
Investors with serious capital to deploy rely on Monex for the top selection of investment-focused IRA-eligible gold, silver, platinum, and palladium products, a two-way buy-and-sell market that provides liquidity when needed, and depository storage through established third-party custodians for those who prefer not to take personal physical delivery.
High-net-worth customers also have access to preferred pricing through the Monex Atlas account, as well as further personalized pricing advantages and volume-based discounts available exclusively by phone with a Monex account representative.
Is a Monex representative only available if I’m ready to buy?
No. Monex representatives enjoy talking through the metals Monex offers and the current state of the market, and they'd rather a client feel confident in their own strategy before making any purchase. Many have worked with Monex clients for years, building the kind of relationship that goes well beyond a single transaction. You're welcome to ask questions and review pricing on your own timeline, with no obligation to buy.
What happens during a Monex consultation?
A Monex consultation is a conversation with an account representative about precious metals options, current pricing, and how a purchase or sale works. There's no obligation to buy. You can ask questions, review pricing, and take as much time as you need before deciding.
Shipping Options
How do precious metals dealers ship gold and silver orders?
When shipping gold and silver, depositories and precious metals dealers generally prefer UPS over USPS. UPS is typically faster and offers reliable tracking services, and it works best when the shipment is properly insured and the recipient is present for delivery. However, UPS does not ship to PO Boxes, and in some cases USPS may deliver your package without a signature. If you use a PO Box or won't be at your location for delivery, USPS is a better option, as long as you understand tracking can be unreliable and delivery is slower.
Can I choose UPS or USPS for my Monex order?
Yes, at Monex you can select between UPS or US Postal Service. However, UPS does not deliver to PO Boxes. For large transactions, many Monex customers have chosen Brinks armored carrier service to ship to a bank, depository or other secure business location. Your Monex account representative can assist you with the ins and outs of shipping choices.
Is UPS better than USPS for shipping precious metals?
In most cases, yes. UPS is faster than USPS and offers more reliable tracking for precious metals shipments. USPS delivers to PO Boxes and offers more reliable signature confirmation.
| Shipping Carrier: | UPS | USPS |
|---|---|---|
| Speed: | Fast | Slow |
| Tracking: | Reliable | Unreliable |
| Signature: | Unreliable | Reliable |
| P.O. Box: | No | Yes |
Can Monex ship precious metals to a PO Box?
Only USPS may be selected if you choose to ship to a PO Box. As an alternative, you may consider utilizing the Atlas Account Brinks depository storage or ask about our vault pickup locations.
Does Monex ship outside the United States?
Online orders are for delivery within the United States. For special delivery requests call your Monex account representative for delivery alternatives.
Does Monex offer free shipping on gold and silver?
Monex offers free shipping on precious metals delivered to a third-party depository through the Atlas storage program. For delivery to your home or business, insured shipping is part of the overall transaction cost, either included in the product price or shown separately. Insured shipping of gold and silver always costs money, so when a seller advertises free shipping, they may include that cost in the product’s premium or use a less reliable shipping service.
Delivery & Insurance
How long does it take to receive a Monex order?
Delivery typically takes less than a week by UPS and one to two weeks by USPS, counted from the Shipping Confirmation Monex sends with your tracking number. Holiday periods can take longer, and some package types and U.S. locations may arrive faster.
How do I track my Monex order?
Monex sends a Shipping Alert when your package is released for processing, then a Shipping Confirmation by email or telephone with your UPS or USPS tracking number once it ships. Use that tracking number to follow your package with the carrier until it arrives. You are responsible for tracking your package and for being at your delivery location when it is delivered, because Monex’s transit insurance ends at delivery. If tracking stops updating, contact Monex immediately.
When is my precious metals package covered by insurance?
Monex insures all shipments during the transit period. Once your package is delivered to your location, it is no longer considered to be in the transit period. After delivery to your designated delivery location, your property's homeowners insurance or business insurance would apply to your precious metals package. Be sure to be at your location when it is delivered. If you know you cannot be at the designated delivery location when your package arrives, request USPS delivery service, use Depository storage or pick up at a depository.
How do I report a lost precious metals package to Monex?
Contact Monex within 3 days of the last posted tracking date for UPS shipments and within 7 days for USPS shipments. A UPS package is considered lost in transit when its tracking has not updated for two days, and a USPS package when its tracking has not updated for at least five days. All Monex shipments are covered by transit insurance, but insurance carriers can reject claims reported after these deadlines. If you do not contact Monex immediately after learning the carrier has lost your package, the claim is designated as suspected fraud.
Once you notify Monex, we research the case with the carrier and begin the claim process. Claims can take 30 days or more to resolve, and USPS claims can take months. If you report a package as not delivered and then receive it, you must notify Monex on the day it arrives.
Storage & Large Bars
Will the depository custodian confirm my metals are in storage?
Yes. On each and every Atlas storage transaction, your Depository Custodian notifies you directly by mail that your metal has been delivered for Depository safekeeping. In addition, if at any time over the course of your long relationship with Monex, you wish to request the Custodian re-confirm that your metals are in its Depository safekeeping, they will do so.
Why does taking personal possession of large bullion bars cost more?
Two factors add cost when you take personal possession of a large bullion bar. Producing any bar costs more than the metal’s melt value. Taking delivery also moves the bar outside the secure chain of custody of refineries, depositories, distributors and armored carriers, where known precious metals market participants recognize its integrity. Outside that chain, a bar’s integrity may be questioned. Monex applies a handling charge to five large bar formats when customers take personal possession, and storing a bar with a third-party depository keeps it inside the chain of custody.
Why does Monex add a handling charge to certain large bar transactions?
Typically, investors prefer to take personal possession of gold, silver, platinum and palladium in coin and small bar format. Large bar transactions, however, are more commonly delivered and stored through our Atlas depository program. Because Atlas storage does not require a handling charge, it is a savings to customers if the amount is not in the ask price, but charged only upon taking personal possession. For the facilitation of online ordering, the online purchasing price includes the handling fee. There are five large bar formats where handling charges apply:
-
- 1,000 oz Silver Bars
- Kilogram Gold Bars
- 10 oz Gold Bars
- 10 oz Platinum Bars
- 10 oz Palladium Bars
What is the Monex Atlas program?
The Atlas program is a storage program that lets clients hold precious metals they've purchased in a secure third-party depository.
