In January 2025, Magellan sailed to the SS Tilawa to place a commemorative plaque on the wreck site while capturing a remarkable 3D digital model of the vessel in its current state. As a symbol of remembrance, the plaque features the first-ever strike from the 2025 Tilawa Silver Krugerrand dies, bearing the coveted SS Tilawa privy mark over South Africa’s National Springbok.
