Are Platinum Prices volatile?
Platinum bullion prices can be quite volatile at times. Like gold, platinum is a commodity that trades freely and with great liquidity across the globe. Though platinum is generally more volatile than gold prices, platinum prices have historically been less volatile than silver prices and palladium prices.
Can I buy platinum from Monex at the platinum spot price?
Monex does not offer any products at spot prices. The true spot platinum price is merely a benchmark per-ounce price that acts as a reference associated with the present month of the COMEX futures contract. In fact, a genuine spot platinum price is not truly a quote at all, as it is not where dealers offer to buy or sell. Monex offers a two-way buy/sell market with quoted Ask and Bid prices. Ask prices for platinum products reflect competitive marketplace conditions for a particular type of platinum investment. There are, however, charges that accompany transactions including buy/sell fees, shipping expenses or storage charges. Monex quotes extremely competitive prices for platinum bullion depository delivery and publishes buy/sell commission charges commensurate with the size of a transaction. Can I store my platinum investment through Monex?
Monex can arrange for the secure storage of your platinum bullion or coin investments. Monex will deliver your platinum with full title and ownership in your name to one of the independent bank/depository facilities that provide storage for Monex customers. When your metal is received by the bank/depository, the custodian of the facility will send you a document acknowledging the receipt and ownership of the platinum being stored in your name.
Does the face value of a platinum coin affect its worth?
The face value of a platinum coin is low in regards to its intrinsic commodity melt value. Therefore, the face value is relatively unimportant and really does not affect its worth. However, having any government currency value is hugely important because that makes it a government guaranteed legal-tender coin and not an unsupported bullion ingot/round. If a government mint were to issue platinum coins with face value exceeding its commodity value, it would affect its worth.
