Silver Price Outlook
“Silver prices rose during much of August, declining during the last two days of the month following Kevin Warsh’s speech at the Jackson Hole summit. As with gold, silver prices are expected to rise in the coming months. Already by Wednesday 2 September silver prices were beginning to show signs of stabilizing and recovering lost value. There could be headwinds to prices if economic data reinforces market and Fed concerns about inflation. A decline in silver prices back toward $60 should not be dismissed, however.
Investors buy silver as a portfolio diversifier as they do gold, and therefore a lot of the political and economic factors that are considered positive for gold should help support the price of silver over the next several quarters as well. Silver’s ability to stay supported above $57, for the most part, during the pull back in prices earlier this year is a positive factor, suggesting that investors still see value in owning and holding silver at historically elevated levels.”
